BEIJING, May 1 (Xinhua) -- A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted the waters off Yilan County of China's Taiwan region at 8:39 p.m. Friday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 24.88 degrees north latitude and 122.07 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 100 km, said a report issued by the CENC. ■
